Labeling Guidelines

Hand landmark review rules

Video Tracks

  • Each hand is treated as a left or right video track.
  • Use K or Set keyframe to accept the current hand pose as a trusted endpoint.
  • Check Left, Right, or both in the Interpolate group before using Fill gap.
  • The bridge readout shows which previous and next keyframes will drive each checked hand.
  • Generated frames are marked separately from human-accepted keyframes on the timeline.
  • Use Reverse interpolation on the active hand when one generated frame needs to go back to the original state.

Hand Guide

  • Numbers 0-20 match the MediaPipe hand landmark order.
  • MCP is the base knuckle, PIP is the middle knuckle, and DIP is the knuckle closest to the fingertip.
  • For the thumb, CMC is the thumb base, MCP is the thumb knuckle, and IP is the thumb joint near the tip.
  • Click a guide dot to select that landmark. Green means modified; X means marked not visible.

Keep Or Delete

  • Keep a hand only when at least 5 keypoints have real x/y coordinates.
  • If fewer than 5 keypoints are visible or confidently placeable, delete that hand for the frame.
  • Do not guess landmarks far outside the image just to meet the threshold.

Visibility

  • Use Visible for points you can place directly on the image.
  • Use Point occluded when you can estimate a hidden point because the nearby finger shape is clear.
  • Use Partially outside for hands crossing the image boundary.
  • Use Outside or not visible for landmarks that should stay null or estimated, not manually guessed.

Structure

  • Keep the 21-point MediaPipe hand structure intact.
  • Null or not-visible points should keep their keypoint index.
  • Use interpolation only when both endpoints support the visible point.

Low Keypoint Count

Hand threshold warning

This hand has fewer than 5 annotated keypoints.

Delete Hand

Frame hand annotation

This marks the hand absent and clears all 21 keypoints for this frame.
